The clothes had no mud on them as we walked on the sidewalk the whole time. But yes...They were soaked from the rain.

I don't have a washer/dryer in my apartment so I didn't think that rain soaked clothes should ideally be washed prior to throwing them in the clothes dryer.

Thanks for letting me know. Growing up, when my clothes were wet from rain, I used to see my mom toss them into the dryer & just assumed it was okay.

Lesson learned.

If she had complained about muddy clothes or clothes shrinking I would get it, but off limits dryer? Is that where she hides her drugs or something? WEIRD.

You should have washed the clothes first. Yuck. Your MB also sounds weird.

I think its a bit strange you would not wash the clothing and dry them. My only concern would be I do not dry all the clothing in the dryer so it lasts longer. I'd just leave them if you do not regularly do laundry there and bring extra clothing in your car/work daily just in case.

Yeah, that's bonkers (MB speaking). Also, she doesn't have a good sense of dryers. Our dryer was purchased in 1994 (has a label on it), and it's still going strong. As is our washer.

That is someone still not comfortable with another person in her home. I'm not sure what to tell you to about it, but, yes, that was weird. I'm guessing that you should assume that unless you have been explicitly told you have access to something, that you should leave it alone.

I'm an MB and I think that's nuts OP.

I can't imagine being uptight about a load of laundry in the dryer for crying out loud.

That is a little weird. But I say that as a nanny who not only used the dryer at work when we get caught in the rain, but also bring my laundry once a week to do while the kids nap.

I guess don't play in the rain anymore? Just sad because it sound like the kid had a blast.

I am a nanny who took her little 2 yr. old charge to play in the rain a few days ago.

It was humid, rainy and a bit of wind. (My MB was completely okay with this as long as my charge wore his rainboots!) She most likely was okay with it because it wasn't a cold storm, in fact in spite of the rain, it was very warm in the air.

Anyway, when we got home I changed my charge's clothing immediately so not to take the risk that he get sick from wearing wet clothes for a significant amount of time. Then I put the wet ones in the dryer along with my pants and blouse.

Well when my MB arrived home I told her of all the fun "puddle jumping" we did and she was glad we enjoyed ourselves. Then I mentioned that I had used her dryer to dry our clothing and she looked upset. She replied that she didn't like it when other people use her dryer as it is only two years old and that it was "off-limits" to anyone but her and her husband.

I was taken aback, but agreed to her terms. (No, our contract does not mention this one way or another.)

I thought I would get over it, but it seriously is bothering me more and more. Was I in the wrong here? If so, let me eat crow.
