This is what I was taught to do by my very polite and well-bred parents. Always inscribe a gift book. Your nanny has more class than you do, OP.

Many people do this. Presumably because they want to be remembered by the recipient. If you had a book inscribed by A. Lincoln or anyone famous then you would not be complaining, would you? It is her gift to him and she has every right to do so. Maybe someday you will have a real problem!

They are books she has given him. I love it when people write little notes when they gift books to me. What is wrong with your child remembering her? If she is a bad nanny then fire her, but if she isn't I think it's really sweet. If it bothers you THAT much then just get rid of the books when your nanny moves on. Although that may be soon considering the way you sound.

The nanny loves to give books as a gift to DC. However, whenever she gives a regular book (never on a board book) she writes "To Larla, With love, Nanny". Half of DC's "library" has this nanny's name on it!

Why does she do this? Is it so DC will always remember her? Pisses me off.
