I've always done this - both when I'm in the position of hiring and when I'm in the position of leaving my job. I always know people looking for a job in my field, so I spread the word when my departure creates an opening, and when I'm hiring, I like to hear who the current person doing the job recommends. If it wouldn't be helpful to any of your friends looking for work - and if you don't have any ideas about how to get the word out, okay, sure it's not your job - no obligation on your part. Seems like they don't want to pay enough for the level of "flexibility" they want. I would not help them unless they could pay an appropriate wage for what they're demanding.

Only if you are paid extra to do so and even then, I would not.

Ask around at the places you take your charge - library story time, Music Together class, Mommy & Me classes. Generally someone knows someone who is great and available. Ask your nanny friends or nannies you see frequently.

If she doesn't know about care.com, help her set up an account and write an ad for her. Suggest agencies that you have heard good things about.
