Not OP but I grew up in Southern California. Boots and a raincoat are ridiculously hot! And it never rains but a few times from now until about March and very infrequently. Here we walk in the rain. In LA the world stops when it rains.
So not sure why you are posting this here if you think this is a local issue? In DC you need to suck it up. Can't advise on Malibu.

I nearly lost mine when a crazy mother told me not to go out if it was raining. She said a car might crash into us if the roads got wet and slippery. WTF??
Of course she mentioned nothing of the sort during the interviews. Of course.

I'm a nanny who walks in the rain. Like you, I am the only one who suffers because DC is well bundled and has a rain cover. Personally, I'd rather face the rain then be trapped in the house all day with an energetic child. I never feel obligated to trek out in bad weather though. NF has tooth me a cab or uber with car seat when I asked.

I'm very well compensated, so could afford to make the investment in good rain gear for myself.
Ask NF to loan you something. If they have nothing appropriate, they'll tell you don't bother going.

I am a nanny in Southern California who has always walked my charge everywhere we need to go. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain all morning (warm and not thunder/lightening). We have a class starting tomorrow that MB/DB paid for.
Is it customary to expect a nanny to walk in the rain with her charge? The stroller has a rain cover and my charge is nearly two and wouldn't mind. The discomfort would be mine alone (can't hold an umbrella and push this particular stroller).
