Per hour, part time nannies might make more than share nannies. Might being the key word. Shares start out at $9-10 per hour per family.
Part time could mean anything between 10-30 hours. Some might say anything under 40 is part time. From what I've seen, most full time nanny jobs need at least 45 hours.

A part time nanny working only 20 hours might make more per hour than a nanny working 30 hours part time.

I don't understand why there's an argument. As with every nanny job, rates depend on location, number of children, hours worked, and benefits.

FT rates for a single family are the lowest. Depending on the nanny, PT for one family or FT share are the next tier up, third is the other. Nannies who do PT shares have the highest rates per hour.

Our nanny has a single-family rate ($15 + $3/addtl kid) and a share rate ($10/family + $4/addtl kid). We employ her part-time at her regular single-family rate but took on finding her another part-time family to fill her other days. So she is employed M-F, 8+hrs/day.

If we wanted her part-time but didn't want her working on her off days (not even sure how I could ask that), I would assume we'd need to pay her a much higher hourly rate.

Does that help?

Ok-but this still does not answer the question.

The non share with one family is less work and complexity (vacation etc) than the share with two babies from two different families. One would assume therefore that the share should pay more.

but the nanny is suggesting that the non share should pay more.

I just want some input as to whether she is mixed up in her thinking relative to what other nannies/employers would think.

Thanks!

I've had some families who paid me more for one child than two other families wanted to pay me for a share.

Who does more work for less money?
Not me.

Would it be out of touch with the DC market if a nanny believed she should charge single family (for part time 25+ hours) more than the cost for the two families in a share?

Example-nanny makes 22 in share but wants to charge family 23 because she believes part time gets paid more in the market than a share?

I am honestly curious as I thought the share was the premium per hour charge (given the complexities with dealing with two families etc

but this nanny seems to believe a part time nanny working for a single family gets paid more per hour than the share price per hour

Thanks!!

It also depends on whether you want part time hours in the share. FT 2 family share is around $12 per hour per family for me. If one family was PT, I would charge them around 15% more than the other family.

Also depends on how many PT hours. 10 hours/week is going to cost much more per hour than 30 hours. Keep in mind "FT" for a nanny is usually 50 or more hours a week.

It all depends on the nanny and what she charges.

Who gets paid more an hour--part time nannies or nanny share nannies? Does one typically make more than another? I had always thought nanny share was the most lucrative per hour salary but not sure...

Thanks!
