Obviously! I have an interview tomorrow, and another phone interview tonight. I would never put everything into just this one job, but it is a really great position and I do hope I get it.

OP here: thank you; I appreciate the optimism; I tend to think more pessimistically haha and my husband told me not to think negatively when I don't have an answer yet. And actually the mom actually texted me this morning saying she's been traveling for work this week, but that they are definitely still interested and really like me. She said they'll get back to me tonight or tomorrow morning, so I'm hopeful!

Perhaps they are still waiting on some references to get back to them or are waiting for the results of a background check to offer them peace of mind if they decide to hire you.

Saturday was only five days ago, I would say if you hear nothing by mid next week, I would send them an e-mail inquiring if they have made a decision yet.

The fact that the job has been deleted may work well in your favor.

They may also be trying to figure out how to manage severance with an existing nanny so it might be a complicated and stressful time for them for reasons that have nothing to do with you. Try to hang in there another day or so.

For me always 3 days because my references is all doctors and they are super busy no time to answer the phone call.

That's been the case for me too. I usually know that same day, or at least within the next day or 2. I have since applied for a few more positions, but this one seemed perfect- great family, great schedule, not having to use my own car to drive them around. I thought they really liked me too! Anyway, I'll see what happens. Hopefully I know something SOON!

Most of my jobs take 4-16 weeks from start to finish.

Stop worrying for now. If you don't hear from them by Friday evening, then worry.

I just wanted to see how long nannies on average wait for a response from the family, and how long MB's think is average to wait to give a response?

Backstory, interviewed Saturday night, they called my references Monday night and played phone tag with my current boss during the day. Not sure if she got ahold of her yesterday. Asked for my background check and asked what my availability in terms of start date was Monday afternoon...they have a current nanny that they hired a month ago, but she's older and I guess she isn't working out with the higher energy kids. Oh, and the care post I responded to (from a month and a half ago) is now closed when I checked yesterday- it was up in Monday still. Anyway, just holding out hope even though it seems like it's been enough time for an answer. I don't know though- she did say she was super busy with her new job, having to work even from home at night, and they just moved to the area. What do you all think?
