The people that respond to these forums are just crazy. She nanny's an 8 year old... She should be able to wear jewelry of any kind.

playing and it accidentally was grabbed, or you were just sitting there and he lunged at it, ripping it off your neck with glee? if the latter, is this a pattern?

No matter what happened it is obvious this nanny is not in control and should probably leave this job to a professional.

Hi, Fat Troll! Back two days in a row, huh?

The child in question is eight-years-old and easily could have taken the necklace from the nanny's bag. We professionals wait until all the information is on before we make a judgement.

As soon as possible.

Why? Did this happen to you and now the family is dragging their heels? If so, then they are being extremely inconsiderate.

You should be able to wear jewelry around an EIGHT year old without them PURPOSEFULLY breaking it. It's not like he was 2 and it was an accident.

OP, did you buy it for yourself? Do you still have the receipt?

8:52 again - yes, bring it up. Your boss doesn't know where to get the replacement from - tell her, or offer to re-purchase it and bring a receipt.

I would have done so within 24 hours. Yes, ask her and give her a receipt or jewelry store where she can purchase a replacement.

Yes, bring it up. Tell her how much it cost and she can either give you the money or get it herself. Promptly.

Thanks, that's what I thought. It's a necklace and will have to be replaced. I was told a week ago when it happened that it would be taken care of, but no mention of it or attempts to rectify the situation since. I'm wondering if I should bring it up.

What is the object? Is this something that you need to send to the repair shop? If so, then I'd reimburse as soon as given the receipt. If it's something I'm supposed to buy, then I'd do it as soon as you tell me where to get a new one and any specifications/add-ins you had for your device.

I'd also have my kid earning the money back, but that's a separate issue.

Immediately. Of course.
