Then you need to firmly explain why you've accepted another offer over hers.

I have on both occasions. I'm just going to ignore her.

Ah, I must have missed that, sorry. Have you told her you consider it dishonorable to renege on a contract you've already signed with another family? It does sound like she'll pester you for a while but everyone has an off switch if you can find it.

Hush up. The only one here who needs to explain anything is YOU. Why don't you have anything better to do?

Hi Troll!

Hi Troll!

Lol +100000000

Find me any other job where you don't get compensated for a training course (which is essentially what a trial day is). And besides, TRIAL day means both parties are seeing if it'll work out, it does not equal a commitment.

Tell her in no uncertain terms that you have to pass on her offer and tell her why.

And thank your lucky stars, OP, as you dodged a HUGE bullet on this one!!! This is a situation that would never improve.

I got an offer from a very nice family. I loved them but besides the great wage, they are not offering an paid vacation, holidays, sick days, guaranteed hours, and no paid vacation even when they take it. I countered but they have not judged much. I don't know if they are just cheap or clueless. The mom has several friends with nannies and they all talk. The cheapest part is when I did a 7 hour trial day they wouldn't pay me. I told them I have always been paid for that in the past. The mom said since I worked, they would pay me for 4 hours of the 7 I worked. Her reasoning was because she showed me things and nursed, so I wasn't working the while time.

I turned them down but they are persistent they want me. The thing that pissed me off was at the trial day she was mapping out shadow days and nights for babysitting. She acted surprised I turned her down. She assumed me taking the trial day was my " yes" answer. She seemed pissed when I told her I had othe offers and would give answer by X time. Now she keeps calling and emailing me. What so you think, and what should I do?
