I think it's fairly easy- I would pay on the higher end, but honestly nannying is a good job for college students, and they probably wouldn't be able to find anything that good elsewhere..you could offer $15 and get applicants for sure.
I would however offer benefits that most college students don't have at other jobs as incentive to stay for more than a few months. Guaranteed pay every week, paid holidays/vacation time (maybe 1 week?), etc.

+1 We have a fantastic after-school and summer nanny who is a rising senior at Georgetown. She has been with us for two years now. We do pay a lot ($20 an hour) for her but she is also fluent in DD's second language and generally just wonderful!

Look for college students, OP. Can you house your nanny over the summer months (have an extra bedroom)? This is often a draw for kids who live out of the area and want to stay in town when their dorm closes for the summer.

We just got offered a spot in Arlington's Montessori Program starting this fall. My son has been going to a full time daycare where I work since he was an infant so I've never researched nannies. If we needed a nanny after school all year and then a full time nanny in the summer, how easy is it to find someone (good) who would take a job that's less than full time all year? Thanks!
