I've never known APNA to reprimand a member agency for misconduct towards a nanny. That would be news to me.

It illegal without your WRITTEN permission. Sue them.

The background check company I use adds it as an option when you do the background check. They probably didn't realize it was unusual, or it might have been part of the most comprehensive package. I doubt they're trying to steal your identity or something.

If you were placed with the agency, the agency probably lost the paperwork in getting your background check and just finally got around to it now. I'd ask your employer directly if she pulled your credit or if the agency did it (delayed) as part of the background check.

If you got the alert, it sounds like this was a hard pull on your credit? That should not be necessary, regardless of the reason or delay, so I'd put a freeze on your credit - assuming you're not opening up new accounts in the next 6 months - so that any hard pull on your credit has to be approved by you & only you. For most purposes, a soft pull should suffice.

Legally, you have to authorize them to specifically have access to your credit files.

I just went back to June and the company they use is the nanny network and it says something about a consumer report and or investigative consumer report and the possibility of credit reports blah blah.. I had no idea as a nanny agency, their company check credit ratings.

That is illegal and who ever gave information for this without your permission could be in trouble as well. This is just wrong on many levels

Some employers that are employing someone will ask to check credit as part of the background check, but that is usually because they plan on giving you access to spend their money or give you a CC to use.

Good that you have the credit monitoring, OP. How long have you known the scum?

Quit today. They're trying to somehow screw you. Watch out. When you get your paycheck, ask her why she was snooping into your personal credit. If you didn't specifically give her written permission to do this, it may have been illegal.

I have a credit card with Capital One and they offer free credit monitoring. Everytime there's an inquiry on my credit rating, I get a notification and the family I am working with (this is actually my last week) checked my credit rating yeaterday...Why would she do this? Is this normal? No other family has ever checked my credit rating before, in fact, the last job to do it was when I worked for a bank.
