No, you're still an idiot. Who the hell hires someone with no experience or education - male or female - to care for their newborn baby?! Could he read? And calling a male nanny a "manny" is ridiculous and insulting regardless of what he calls himself.

Venting is one thing, but the name calling is mean-spirited. I know it's the internet and people often have no filter, but it's still frustrating to have some bad apples that spread negativity when none is called for.

BUT, onto being positive... we've had our nanny since our son was 4 months old, and we're very happy with her! I've learned a lot from her and my son adores her. No one is perfect, but on balance we feel very lucky to have her.

I am a nanny and I love my charge; I love my job; I am so happy to go to work everyday. I get frustrated with my employers however and have been known to vent here. Some MBs simply do not know how to manage people or deal with the emotions of having another woman care and teach their child. It is hard to always feel that your employers is actively working to minimize your importance.

Still, there is no job as rewarding as a job working with children.

I am very happy with our nanny. She is an amazing combination of bubbly and sweet and firm with the rules. The kids adore her and I can see that their attitudes and behavior have changed (for the better!) since she has come into their lives.

Also, you have to remember that unhappy nannies have no other place to vent, really. We would never vent about our employers to neighbors or other nannies so this is it.

I am a very happy nanny (currently on vacation and missing my amazing little guy). I have a great job and it is a true privilege to teach and care for a young child. There is no other job out there with the satisfaction of seeing and helping a child grow. I was good at other endeavors in my life but I am GREAT at being a nanny!

I am also respected and appreciated by my employers and have an adorable and loving little guy (now three) in my care with another on the way!

I agree and disagree. I am a very happy nanny who loves her employers and really appreciate my profession. I come on here often to try and give sound advice from the perspective of someone who has seen it all and-through hard work and many trials and errors-has found a good situation.

Our nanny is absolutely amazing and a gift. She is older and has been with DS since he was just five weeks old. She is educated, experienced, lovely, and a no-drama grown-up woman. Hearing she and DS, now 2, honestly laughing so hard upstairs is one of the greatest sounds in the world! Plus, because of Nanny, DS is happy, secure and well ahead of his peers in learning. And he loves, loves, loves his books as his nanny is a wonderful reader and encourages reading. She is devoted to him and very, very respectful and supportive of how DH and I chose to raise him.

Nanny has NEVER called in sick and has never - not once - been late. She carries an inexpensive flip-phone that only DH and I have the number to so if her phone rings it could only be DH or me.

We found her on care.com and I could not be more grateful.

Yes, I can be 100% positive about our nanny.

There are so many negative things on here about employers or nannies, does anyone have some positive stories or tidbits about their employers or nannies? Would be lovely to hear some nice things for once!
