We've been in a similar situation with DS' nanny. She came with us to Florida when DH's sister got married. We had to be there 2 days early because of family activities so we brought nanny along and she worked her normal hours and not a minute over. We gave her the option of staying in Florida until we left Monday or we'd fly her her home Friday night (we didn't need her for the weekend). She opted to fly home Friday but since that ran her into off hours we paid her for that (OT) and then gave her an extra $250 on top of that.

+1. You should be compensated for the fact that you are giving up your 14 other non-working hours during the day. You can not go home to your family or friends or your home. This is worth something. $50-$80/day sounds reasonable.

OP here. Thanks but this is a weekend position.

Yes. Any time over 40 hrs in a WEEK is OT. As in a whole week ie 7 days.

Not true. If she works 12 hours a days for 4 straight days, the extra 8 are overtime.

What are you babbling about?!

No, PP, I am working two different jobs - one during the week and a separate weekend nanny job.

I did and found nothing relevant. I will not be caring for the baby over night and the parents are around 100% of the time.

Then share some details, like own room?

Yes, I will have my own room and bath. The travel tine is less than two hours by car (parent will be driving).

You should get paid your regular hourly rate for all the hours you are working. Also if you are working during traveling time you need to make sure they compensate you for that as well. Do you have your own room? Or are you sharing with the kids. If you are sharing, then you need to be compensated overnight because if the kids wake up, you will be in charge of them. Then make sure you have a set schedule because If not things can get complicated. Make sure you are not taken advantage of during the trip. As far as not sleeping in your own bed and such, you can charge an extra "convenience fee" of anywhere between $50 to $100 but negotiate all that first before you leave. Hope it works out. And let us know how it goes.

What is acceptable compensation? I would still be working my usual ten hours days but obviously not be home in my own bed. What more should I request beyond my usual hourly wage (which is very good btw) for the inconvenience of being away from home?
