at first I thought I was crazy because we would go through chips and cereal so fast. Not to mention any kind of cookie. Then we figured out the cookie bandit was the nanny. How can I politely say....stoping eating everything. I don't mind buying her a few snacks for her to eat but my leftovers are no a no touch zone. It grosses me out.
Explain to her that you plan out your meals and it throws you off when you come home expecting to eat something specific for dinner only to find it's not there. Then say you're happy to buy a couple of snacks for the week and will put them on the third shelf on the left side.
That will:
1. Let her know you realize she's gobbling up your food
2. Make her feel she is welcome to certain food.
Then buy one box of cereal, one bag of chips and three bananas, two apples and two oranges. That should be plenty for snacks for a week and cost you less than $20.
