I take lots of photos of my charges. I never share them with the parents until I leave a job then I make them a scrapbook. I've never had an employer be upset. Typically they cry out of happiness for the thoughtful gift.

Serious invasion of privacy. I would quit on the spot if I found out an MB or DB did this. Your nanny has a right to her privacy. How would you like it if your nanny went through your phone or personal laptop? Keeping a FB private is none of your business. She clearly doesn't want to be " friends" or have you checking up on her. I take several pics of my charge that I don't send the parents. The day is too short to send them all and I love being able to make a photo book for them. Sending all the photos defeats that purpose. You're a real crappy MB.

My MB has went through my phone before, although I didn't take offense to it, didn't even think about it really. She handed me my phone I had left one day and told me about some funny photos and an app we have in common, I didn't think it was anything bad. I guess it's one of those "if you have nothing to hide" situations...

totally disagree! while I have nothing to hide when it comes to my job, I really don't need my MB reading texts to/from me about private things such as my parents' divorce or convos I have with my fiancee. I text very infrequently throughout my workday (think like 5 texts and I work 11 hour days) but private texts are on my phone because it's MY phone. she also doesn't need to see pictures from going to the bar on weekends. these are all things I can have on my phone because I am professional and they are done NOT during work hours nor does it affect my work, aka its not my MBs business.

My phone needs a code to get in so this wouldn't have happened with me. That said I often don't share every single picture I take off the kids because 1) do you really want to get texted 6 times a day of I took 6 pictures that day? And 2) I like to save some out to make a photo book at the end of the year. Not really special if you already have all the same pictures, is it?

You should fire yourself from being an employer immediately. Seriously, when you work in someone's home you DO have an expectation of privacy, especially of your own items. It's not as if you work in a law firm and looked at your assistant's company computer.

You should feel COMPLETELY guilty. She doesn't HAVE to tell you she has a Facebook page. It's none of your business.

For some reason I decided just take a peek to see if she uses her phone all day long. I found all these photos of MY kid I had never seen. She does indeed text others but it's not too often.
