It is highly likely this has nothing to do with you.

They most likely already had someone else in mind and wanted to keep you as a back-up in case something didn't pan out.

This has happened to me a few times and I place the blame on the parents for this, they should be people of their word. And some are not.

Keep trying...Do not let these idiots discourage you altogether.

Like the other parent said, this is pretty normal. She clearly found someone she liked and hired her -- the end. She didn't need to talk to all the nannies once she found someone she thought was great.

Think of it this way - you are shopping for a dress. You plan to go to 3 stores, but you find the perfect dress in store #1. So you don't go to the other 2 stores as it would be a waste of time.

As a parent who has gone through the nanny search twice, I think I have probably done this both timesl by accident. I normally post adds on SitterCity and on my local listserve and I get literally hundreds of responses. I weed through them and am able to cut most just based on not having met my basic requirements, but even then I'm lift with a dozen or so that seem like good candidates. I try to do due diligence with all of them and keep them in the loop, but the sheer number makes it very difficult. Sometimes a candidate is able to schedule an interview very soon and then I might take a pause on the others while I interview her, and then if I end up liking her, I might just go with it and only get to double back with everyone else after.

Honestly, it might not be that they're being rude. There are so so many candidates who want to be nannies that it's really difficult to weed through and keep everyone in contact. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try, but just for consideration.

I would say that 50% of the time the parents do not follow up with the call. Not unusual as they have most likely found someone in the interim of responding to me via e-mail and their scheduled phone interview. I have come to expect it.

What did you read and what are you saying?

First of all, what you wrote makes no sense on so many levels!! The employee does not "set up" interviews, employees "agree" to interviews. Hiring family sets up the interviews. The OP, obviously is a nanny so she is not in the position to set up interviews. Secondly, if you happened to set up a phone interview and they call you, isn't that a good thing? Lastly if I just assume you skipped some words and read what I think you meant to say, which is "OP agreed to an interview but they did NOT call her," the OP most definitely did not say that.

And you are calling out someone for not being able to comprehend English? That poster had fine English and seemed to grasp what the OP say saying fine.

I'm an experienced nanny going through a sucky job market and different time meeting a good family. I applied to a few positions via my neighborhood forum. One of the moms reached out and asked to speak with me that weekend. The weekend came with no call. I waited another day and reached out to see if she was interested. She wrote me back how they were really busy and very interested. That was maybe a week ago. I emailed and she said they hired someone over the weekend. The same thing happened twice more. I'm a little confused why this is happening. They seem interested and then never call. As at as I know, I have no negative feedback about me. I've had many positive references, wonderful experience, etc. I'm not sure if it's something on my end, or theirs.
