And I also warn against the ones online where you have to pay a set fee.

I used one of these online services + was given a lot of false information. For example, my nanny's #SSN was run and I got a lot of bad information about her. I couldn't believe someone could have so many tickets and warrants on her record, so I then put in my #SSN, my husband's as well as my sister's.

The website gave all of us multiple reports of citations and charges that we never have had, many were out of our State as well. I even was supposedly married to a man when I wasn't even born yet!!

These websites are a sham.

I would go into my local police department and inquire about getting local fingerprints scanned instead.

Since I have a foster child our nanny/babysitter had to go through the state's fingerprint check. In my opinion, the best one there is.

This looks interesting. OP should know that most nannies do not allow potential employers to get into their credit reports, unless she's a household manager and managing the family's finances.

In this age of identity theft, we need to be extra careful to protect ourselves. Nanny employers have been commonly known to leave our SS numbers exposed to anyone walking through the house.

I have read on here before that the background checks on sittercity are not the best. So what other vendors do people use for this?
