If she's only having you do a half day on Monday, I would bet the other half day is being done by another nanny, and that the decision is solely between the two of you. Good luck, OP!

Considering that she goes back the very next day, I am assuming you are very close to being hired here.
She is taking the risk that she will love you thus allowing her to return to work the very next day.
Make sure you get paid for it OP. Remember, it is YOUR time.

I had the top four candidates do half day trials (that I paid them for). I was able to get a much better sense of how things would go than I did talking to them.

Yes it means she is serious but she may be serious about 1 other person as well. You are in top 3 of probably dozens if not hundreds who applied. Good luck.
Oh and getting paid is important but don't be obnoxious and ask for it in writing. She is trusting you with a kid. You trust her to keep her word. If you ask for it in writing you will come off too obnoxious to get the job. Get the final contract in writing though.

Do not assume you will be paid. Get it in writing and you get paid your hourly rate

I've only had two nanny positions so I am a littl unfamiliar with protocol. I was with my first family ( family friend) for 4 years. I was with another family ( non-family/friend) after that for 2 years. I interview with a family that I really liked yesterday morning. The mom seemed to really like me. They asked if I can do a shadow ( I think that's a trial?) day next week. I can't be sure but I believe I am the only nanny that has been asked. Does this mean they have serious interest in a potential offer? My last family gave me an offer and then we did a couple days with the mom home before she went back to work. This mom goes back on Tuesday and wants me to do a half day on Monday, but I have not received an offer.
