Just like w/anything in life, practice due diligence when searching for a Nanny. Buyer Beware, etc.

Remember: Sittercity is FREE for anyone to post a Nanny profile. That basically means that anyone and everyone can create a free profile on the website + call themselves Nannies, Babysitters, Pet Sitters, etc. Anyone w/internet access which includes basically everyone since even those who don't have a computer can access the internet at a public library.

So don't just assume all of the people on Sittercity.com are actually qualified caregivers.
Run your own background checks, talk to references, etc.

16.32. I've had decent luck with sittercity, but I've found positions more to my liking through nannies4hire and care. It all depends.

Sorry I'm not an MB but another long time nanny. I have 12 years of full time experience, Bachelors degree in early childhood education (with a minor in Spanish which I am fluent in), glowing references, CPR certified, great driving record and my own reliable car, etc. When looking for new nanny jobs, I check in with the nanny agency I'm registered with, and use care.com and sitter city. I've always had the most success with sittercity personally, and it is the first site I go to every time (and a favorite of my nanny friends as well). It's definitely worth trying!

Nanny here. There are a slew of parents on sittercity who are advertising outrageously low salary for an extreme amount of work, so a reasonable to high salary for a reasonable amount of work sticks out. I've also heard that a number of "nannies" posting on sittercity are not nannies but babysitters. The best advice I've heard for parents is to be clear about job expectations, minimum requirements to even consider the nanny and salary range, and then filter out the people that don't fit. Most nannies won't provide references until after at least a phone interview, so as not to exhaust the reference, but most initial phone interviews don't need to take more than 10 minutes (just enough time for you and nanny to ask the dealbreaker questions).

I'm a nanny who found their long-term NF on Sittercity. I'm an experienced college graduate and U.S. citizen, I'm trilingual and I have all relevant certifications such as CPR and no blemishes on my criminal or driving records. I think that it is very smart of you to be wary of people who sound too good to be true, but they do exist. You can find someone too! Good luck.

I am looking for a PT nanny for this first time and it's daunting! Sittercity seems full of good candidates, but surely that's too good to be true? Can other parents share their experiences with the quality of nannies / sitters from Sittercity and / or other relevant info? What should I be looking out for? Thanks so much.
