National Nanny Recognition Week is in September.

And for the resident angry poster, Mother's Day was last month. Did you not get a card, gift, or hug?

Are you grateful that you have a loving person to care for your child(ren) so that you are able to to do your job? With your personality and huge chip in on your shoulder, it is a miracle that you found someone to put up with you.

Why is this post showing ungratefulness? Other than the last comment, mothers put in more hours per week than the nanny. And, national caregivers month of November is really for everyone-- mothers, stay-at-home dads, nannies, grandparents.

Once I was a baby nurse for a newborn with older siblings. I was invited to join them during their holiday season. The 13 year old girl opened a gift and screamed to her parents, "I HATE it."

You simply remind me of that adolescent child.
Certain people always think they deserve better than what they have. Is that you, by any chance? You can be honest here.


Nannies asking for "love notes" and "caregiver appreciation day (not including moms)" remind me of kids making up extra birthdays so they can have extra presents. A level-minded person who sees things for what it is.

My, you're dumb.
I never ask for letters of appreciation, but that's what grateful people often do.

News to me (MB).

I'm not doing anything, nor was I ever aware of this.

I pretty regularly do small things to thank our nanny, and at least annually give bonuses or extra days off as appreciation.

I'm not worrying about tomorrow.

A heartfelt letter of gratitude would be the most amazing thing. A longtime former employer gave me "love notes" all the time.

No paycheck can fairly compensate a compassionate nanny who loves her charge.
