I typically give the family a photo album of pics I've taken over the years. Usually the parents have never seen these pics and the moms almost always cry when I give it to them.

This happened recently with me. It ended due to my employers moving for a job. I made a book from Shutterfly (groove book is much cheaper) with pictures I took of my charge throughout our time together. They really loved it. I received a bonus ( for staying until the end) and a framed picture of my charge. I would do something similar.

You sound like a loving nanny OP. Worth your weight in gold definitely.

I say get him the picture but also a book too. Perhaps something about the bond that nannies have with the children they watch.

My position with my NF ended on Friday. I was with them for almost a year, and we are parting on very good terms. We are meeting up later this week for a celebratory lunch, and I'm wondering if I should get him a little gift? He's turning 3 in a month, and I'm not sure if I should just wait and send him something for his birthday (or nothing at all?). I could get him a framed picture of us. For Christmas I bought him a book, which he absolutely adored.
