+1. You not giving it to her is just going to make her use her data up - it's not like she wont be using the internet at all the entire time she's there.

My NF gave me the password to their wifi in my first week. We used it to browse Pinterest for craft ideas, homemade bubbles and play-doh recipes, and look up how to pronounce dinosaur names!

Even if you don't give her your wifi password, she can use her own data to browse the internet. It sounds like you have some trust issues, OP.

I actually didn't know that. Regardless, I refused to be in a home for ten hours with no access to the outside world. Parents unable to reach me, my child unable to reach me, I couldn't even check emails from my boss. It was a heavily wooded area. They didn't think anything of it. I don't see the issue unless you have one of those phone addicted people.

Also it's a safety issue. Hard to dial 911 if there's no reception.

this is me too, but I've never actually asked for it, just waited until or if they offered. I asked straight out, but these were all parents that wanted me to have access to it, they were all super wired geek types. I also used mine for music because there was no cd player in the house- they were so wired, they just used all the gadgets for music.

Perhaps she has some down time during the day, when the children nap and she wants to go online and do some things.

Caring for three kids under two is a tough job for anyone, and she deserves a break too when the kids are sleeping.

I don't see why she would need it when she is working. She can check any vital message or text on her lunch break without it. You don't have to give her access to more possible distractions when she should be engaging your very young children.

I am the nanny for a now 20 month old and have been since his birth. I have never asked for my employers code since I have no time to goof around online when I am working.

How did she seem annoyed by this? Does she already have a lazy attitude? Does your data have a limit that your family needs to worry about?

What wrong with her using it while she is eating lunch and the kids are sleeping?

So we recently hired a new nanny due to our first one moving to another part of the state. Our new one has been with us now for 2 full weeks. Her contract states that her duties are housekeeping related to the baby and our twins that are 22 months old. Her hours are 9:15-5:15. 3 late morning a week I take the twins to a mommy and me type class for about an hour and so she only has the baby during that time. She asked me yesterday when I was about to return to work if I could write down our security code for use of the wifi while she is at work. I don't know it and have to get my husband to get it off the box in our attic. But before I do that I sort of feel uncomfortable about it. Will this cause a problem? Will she start abusing the use of her phone while working now? My kids are not at clear speaking age yet so they wouldn't be able to say rather or not she is doing this. Should I be concerned? Our first nanny asked for it so I didn't know if it is common info I should've given a household employee. She seemed sort of annoyed that I hadn't already done so
