In this culture we celebrate the birthdays of both adults and children. But not all cultures do.

I don't understand why nannies expect a special perk for their birthdays. I don't know of any other profession who celebrates birthdays with cash or days off.

I would prefer cash.

I would also prefer that I chose employers who thought to do anything for my birthday. But I didn't.

I'd love either but if given the choice would want a paid day off. Depends how much cash you're offering but I'd most likely choose the paid day off and less cash.
