Some families want to see how a nanny does with a working interview / trial day or maybe a trial weekend. When your asked to do something longer then 2 hours you should be paid. Would you be ok going to an interview from 7 am to 7 pm and getting no compensation? What if the interview last over a weekend Friday- Sunday 7 am - 7pm all 3 days.


If that's what they wanted to offer me a job, and I wanted the job enough, I would interview from 7-7

Cash. I'm always a little leery taking checks from someone I don't know. I'd probably take it but be annoyed you couldn't be bothered to have cash. And don't be cheap and pay down to the dollar. Round to the nearest $5.

An interview and trial are two separate things. I dress for an interview, not for working, so if the family intends to have a trial immediately, I need to know before I get there.

I agree but a lot of families do offer some compensation which is nice.

Since it could possibly be a one time thing, I would pay her in cash.

You are not obligated to pay taxes on such a small amount and it would only complicate things.
