It takes nothing to wish someone, particularly someone who works in your house every day, happy birthday.

You may be right.

In their eyes, you are almost out the door so they really do not see it as a high priority to gift you for your special day.

Or perhaps they will give you something when you part....A goodbye gift or bonus that will apply.

I'll keep my fingers crossed they do.

Was your birthday on a work day last year and a weekend this year? Maybe they simply thought it was appropriate to wish you a happy birthday on the day-of last year and this year just to ask afterward if they didn't see you on the day.

I agree that it seems odd not to get you a card or anything, if they got you a nice present last year. Maybe they are just busy and forgot what they did last year. Sorry they didn't mention it, OP!

Birthdays aren't a big deal after 21.

Birthdays are not at ALL a big deal to me or DH. We rally for the kids but that's it. It almost never occurs to us to make a big deal of a birthday for adults. I'm always having to wish people a happy belated birthday.

I bet they are going to give you a big bonus before you leave them in the Summer.

So... I've been with this family for almost two years. Last year for my bday I received very nice gift (I worked for them less than 6 months)... This year they didn't even wish me happy bday... I know they didn't forget because they asked me how my bday was. My contract ends this summer. What's wrong with them?! I'm not greedy but what upsets me is that I feel like they don't care anymore since they won't need me soon.
