The 13 year old wouldn't be able to get a job legally at any of those places, nor would she be allowed to work 40 hours a week until she is much older. Parents in the DC area will pay $15/hour to a high school babysitter for a few hours a week, so why would teenagers wants to work somewhere else for less money (when they are old enough to do so legally)?

OP here. Sorry not posting for me. I certainly think it's too low. Our nanny is paid 925 for fewer hours. Just a reality check needed, thanks.

Former MB here. Think that it is too low, as it works out to an average of 14.50 per hour... Going to be difficult to find someone for that amount, plus you do want to pay someone a living wage, so to speak. Probably makes more sense to go the nanny share or daycare route.

My friends 13 year old daughter charges 15 per hr

Sorry - ...you might FIND it....

That's quite a low hourly rate OP, but a reasonable weekly salary. It's just that your nanny will work quite hard for what she might be able to earn in fewer hours with another family. What is your list of requirements?

Do you want English fluency? Paid on the books? Ability to drive? Cooking or any light housekeeping? Ability to help your older child with homework?

You can always test the market at that rate and see if you're happy with the applicant pool you have. But if you can bump that rate up some you might fight it really expands your options.

When they give you a weekly rate instead of an hourly rate, yeah, they're trying to get over on you.

That works out to 12.80 per hr with over time. That's pretty low. Are you looking for a nanny with experience ?

12.80 x40 = 512
12.80 + 6.40 = 19.20 ( over time rate )

19.20 x 15 = 288

288 + 512 = 800

12.80 per hr is very low

1 6 month old, with after school duties for 5 year old (4-7 pm).
