How is this a play date?

Op here. Some people seem bitter here. My story is not changing. I work now 2 days a week (school is still on), when summer starts my charge will be going to practice and her friend's parents want me to Take the friend too. My MB asked me if it was ok for me to do it and how much extra would I charge and they will share the cost and they are fine with anything I tell them (but of course being reasonable). The practice is 4 days a week, i Would pick my charge from her activity (changing every week), then drive to pick up her friend, then drive both of th to practice. After That, we drop the Friend Home, then go Home, get dinner, and bed and the parents usually get Home before my charge falls asleep (my hours are usually 5pm-9pm), but With the friend it Will Only be for about 2 hours With her (rounded to the nearest hour). I have brought my charge for summer activities before but never With a friend all summer long. I dont charge anything for playdates or such. I dont Only do this for the money, i do it because i also love my charge. Thanks NannyDebs.

OP's story changed from "I work 4 hours a day 2 days a week and I am being asked to add a second child on one of the days" to "This is for 2.5 hours but will increase my 2 day week to a 4 day week".

And you want $14 EXTRA to supervise your charges friend at the pool for 2 hours? Ridiculous.

PP, 10 regularly scheduled hours a week all summer long to do an activity is hardly a play date. At least, not according to my definition of the term...

OP, for 10 hours a week, (active or passive supervision plus getting kids ready and into/out of pool and their clothes), Charge the other family $100 - 125, drop the current families rates for those 10 hours by no more than $3 IF they ask you to, and you'll gross $70 - 95 for the work each week.

OP, it sounds like a nanny share with the second child, since you said two families.

In that case, you could easily do $5-$7 more, have them split the total amount. Original family will be happy with a slightly lower rate for the days that the other child is there, second family will be happy to have a lower rate than they could find by themselves.

Never ask here, OP. There are too many MBs who think they can drive down the cost of quality childcare by demeaning all nannies. Your MB will still be saving money if you ask for an additional $7 an hour.

OP here. Thanks for all the reasonable and respectful replies. I dont get it why people Would call me nuts, it was an honest question. I have been with them for 3 years now, and I Know they love and value me. This is the first Time i have to drive another kid With theirs, and they say whatever I add its fine, the two families Will split the cost. This Will be for about 2.5 hours, and it Will extend my Work to 4 days a week just for That activity and Will be all summer long. I don't want to quote too high, but I think being responsible for another kid (driving and supervising at the pool) an extra $7 would not be too much, even $5 I would be ok with me.

Please ask the mother for an extra $7 an hour LOL, then you can get fired and she can find a sane woman for her child. You are nuts.

Well not the most ridiculous thing but certainly among the most ridiculous things. I earn $19 an hour fulltime for one child in Falls Church. I would add a second child for $5 more and absolutely not add in any maid duties!!!

Hi nannies and babysitter. I am a very part time nanny (4 hours a day 2 days a week), for one kid. They are asking me add another child for one day for an activity. We will pick up the other kid, drive to the activity and drop her back home. My question is how much extra to charge? I am paid $15 per hour and no formal extra for gas, but they usually gives me extra for that. I was thinking $7 extra for the other kid. Is that fine ?
