Subject: when to start looking for a nanny share?
Are you looking for both a nanny and a family to share her with?
If that is the case, I would start looking three months prior.
Too long and you may lose them to other opportunities, not long enough and you may find yourself between a rock and a hardstone and having to make a quick decision which is something that you definitely DO NOT want to do when seeking quality childcare.

The nanny needs to be looking for a job. No nanny will be looking for a job in the summer for a position that starts in January, unless the nanny knows her family is moving, kids are starting school, etc.

Start looking for a family in the summer. You may find another planner mom looking to lock in a share family. But you can't look for a nanny until at least Nov unless you know of anyone who might be transitioning to preschool in Jan that has a nanny you like.

Will you be trying to find a share family first or a nanny first?

Yup.
Or perhaps September/October if you have a neighborhood listserv where you can get the word out early so people think of you.

We are going to be looking for a nanny share starting January 2016 for our 4 month old infant. When should we start looking to set something up?
