I don't think it's obsessive at all. If it's every weekend, then I'd be annoyed - but once a quarter when something special is going on in the kids life? Not at all.

The only time I have ever texted over the weekend is when the baby had a 103 degree fever when I left on Friday. I just wanted to know how she was doing.

I work for a family with older kids (10 and 12).
The kids have their own iPhones and we all text/FaceTime each other all the time.
The mom texts me pictures of whatever they're doing during the weekend, even if the dogs do something funny.
I can't imagine working for someone who would get upset over a text during the weekend.
To each their own I guess.

In the situation you describe it might actually be very pertinent. If I know that MB and DB were "too busy" to put DC on the toilet all weekend and that we will be spending the day trapped inthe house reestablishin that pattern, I might choose to work out before work so my energy level will be higher despite being indoors all day. If I know DC is still sick, I might choose not to schedule a visit with my friend and her new baby after work on Monday.

I really don't understand questions like this. You invite a nanny into your house and your life to care for your most precious gift. Your nanny spends 50+ hours a week with your child (more waking hours than you spend with your child each week), and you get annoyed because that nanny dares to care about your child's well being? It's not like she's texting to ask you what your kid ate for Saturday morning breakfast. Unclench, OP.

I am a nanny and I have, on occasion, texted my employers to see how my charge was doing after an illness or change in his life (like potty training, giving up the pacifier, weaning, etc.) It is hard to expect any caring human to turn off concern for a child simply because they aren't with them.

I would never infringe on the family's time like that. If I knew the child was dangerously ill, I would go to the hospital, but otherwise? Nope, there are boundaries for a reason.

Be thankful you have a nanny who cares about your child so much.

It doesn't happen every weekend, but if something unusual is going on - like DC recovering from an illness or new potty training - the nanny will text me and ask how she is doing.

Just wondering is this is normal or obsessive...
