You sound like an awesome employer OP. Your nanny is already blessed to have such a caring and considerate employer to work for!

I think a good suggestion would be to invite nanny out to a family dinner somewhere with you and the kiddos. Perhaps a fun pizza place with games and tons of fun!

Or you can have a bar-b-que in your backyard one day and ask nanny if she would like to join you and your family.

These tokens of thought will be well appreciated.

I'd love a day off or even a bouquet of flowers, though I guess to the people above who have crappy immune systems and are allergic to everything, that would count as giving someone bath products since flowers smell.

But for me, fresh flowers, especially roses or Peonies would be nice.

Another idea is a gift card for Barnes and Noble so she can get a book or magazines or something to "get lost" in.

Another idea, if she likes to cook is a cooking class somewhere like Sur la Table or a gift card to them or Williams Sonoma. I had a mom surprise me with a West Elm gift card one day and it was such a fun surprise.

If I were having a stressful time, a day off (or even just a few hours off to sleep in) would have the most impact.

Second that this is a terrible idea. I can't even tell you how much lotion/bath stuff I've thrown out over the years. Unless you KNOW someone's favorite brand and scent, don't buy them bath stuff.

I had a boss a few years ago who randomly on a Friday would come home with a 30 dollar gift card for a restaurant and say dinner is on me tonight and hand it to me. Or he would give me a gift certificate to get a pedicure. The small gestures made me feel so appreciated.

Can you give her a bonus day off? I'm sure she would really appreciate some unexpected time to herself.

My nanny is having a rough time in her personal life, and I'd really like to do something for her to show my family's support. Not something expensive/frivolous, as I'm sure she'd rather have the cash, but a token of sorts. Any ideas?
