(This is all based on my experience, all kids are clearly different) ALSO, THIS QUESTION WAS NOT FOR MOMS, BUT FOR THE NANNIES. Thanks

I'm a nanny and think you are ignorant.

I'm an nanny that works mostly with infants. That's a shame they won't get your charge toys but majority of babies will play with anything that they can't have. We do things like dancing to music, reading, exploring all over the house, walks aroids the neighborhood with lots of talking, parks, libraries, classes, play dates, and various toys. My charges favorite toy is a plastic container filled with noodles. He loves the sound it makes. We are also practicing walking. When he was younger we worked hard on every milestone and baby sign language.

I used to take her and the older sister to the playground and would spend 1-2 hours there but as of late.. The mom likes to take them herself. Mom also takes them to the library on my days off so days when I am working she doesn't want me to drive them there.. It's weird, but these are things I've suggested. I do read her books, well try before she crawls away ! Lol

Keep reading as she crawls away and hold up the book for her to see like a preschool teacher. She is still hearing the language.

The family I work for hasn't even gotten this baby toys.. She has the same toys that she had when she was 3 months, they won't even get her a walker. If someone isn't giving it to them for free, they won't buy it. They haven't even put up gates and yes, the baby crawls.

Did you just say walker? Are you really a nanny?

What kid really plays with toys? Babies that age are happy with a few spoons and some bowls and pans. They like a empty water bottle filled with pasta, how about paper they can crinkle up, the list goes on and on. I can't believe that this is difficult for you or that you think it is a travesty that they won't get her a walker. Of course they won't! They are up to date on current recommendations. You should be too.

Will you just shut up with this??

It's a fair question. Her first thought should have been sensory play at this age.... I also ask because she bitched about a walker.

Go outside - carry the baby or walk her in a stroller and point out everything that you see. If the parents don't have books for her, walk her to the nearest library and read to her. Make up games and songs. Put on the radio and dance with her.

Come on, OP - think! Kids are little sponges at that age and anything and everything can be an adventure.

Well well...I have being a nanny for many years and I'm currently working with 11 and 14 month old infant/toddler. I have being caring for them since they were 3 month old. So we both work with the same age group. Here is a list of what we do

Out door activity: playground crawling , climbing, sliding, swing, social interaction with peer, exploring nature and much more.

Indoor: following routines, eating, sleeping, dancing, talking, reading. Also we do trip to libraries and children activities close by. In all, they are creative and play with any thing fom rolling a ball to picking sticks, dry Leah and rocks outside.

They play with their toys but, we spent most time exploring outdoor. We only be indoor to eat and sleep

Sensory play
lots and lots of walks
play on the swings at the park
story times
reading and singing songs
find things to make into new toys, kitchen items are great for this!
gather pillows and cushions and make a fun place to crawl around

There are a million more things, read some blogs and be a little creative.

How long have you been a nanny? Walkers aren't good for babies.
*sigh* look up activities online. Take the baby for a walk, Sensory play. You can make sensory bins using bowl and materials around the house.
