Very few people are going to accept a cut in pay to do more work (as with infants). If you like her - yes - you may have to up your offer.

going rate in DC for a GOOD (great references) and legal is 18-22 hour. We started at 20/hour to keep nanny from taking another position and now 22/hour. split between two families. Paid sick and vacation.between bonus, taxes etc. All in is around 26k per family each year. I know lots of nanny shares family and this is typical.

That may be an accurate range. No way to really know for sure, is there?

The only way to know for sure is to advertise for a set of credentials and skills you want, and see the candidates who come in who meet your requirements, and look at their asking rates.

We had a nanny share in upper NW DC for $19/hr for two infants, so $9.5/hr. Legal, fluent in English, very outdoorsy, affectionate, 20+ years of experience, background in nursing. She kept a log for both kids, did very minor housekeeping (like the kids' laundry and straightening up) and we were very happy with her.

With all the employer's taxes, the arrangement ran about $1,700 per family per month. We had Thursday afternoons off so I imagine for a full week it would have been about $1,800.

Experienced nannies can be at least $23-25 p/hour (not including metro benefits or health insurance subsidy plus petty cash).

No way to know for sure - but you could start with $18/hour ($9.00 each) for xx hours a week and use a tax calculator on Breedlove or GTM payroll services for estimates but I would expect it will be in the $2000 a month per family range.

How many hours per week do you need, OP? Where are you located? Your range is $18-20 per hour total.

How many pay stubs and W-2's have you seen?

Hello,

If you wouldn't mind sharing what you pay your nanny for a nanny share for two infants, and the qualifications that they have, I would greatly appreciate it. We are seeing things all over the board and want to make sure we are offering adequate compensation.

We are requiring the nanny to be CPR certified, speak fluent English (another language is great as well but not required), have previous experience watching two infants, keep a basic daily log (bodily functions, eating, sleeping), and be willing to take the kids out on walks and to activities. We hope to find someone who can teach the babies some basic sign language. We are offering 2 weeks paid vacation, all federal holidays off, and 5 days paid sick leave. We will be paying on the books.

Thank you!
