I sent my MomBoss a "Happy Mother's Day" text message + I also included a funny story about her child. She loves it when I relay funny things her child did when she wasn't there, they never get old.

I FaceTime my former MB, and in two weeks when I go back to CA to visit I'm staying two nights with that family. I'm extremely close with my first NF - they will forever and ever be in my life.
I don't think it's weird, offensive or sucking up.

MB and I have a pretty close situation. I texted her that I hope she had a great Mother's Day. I sent that to my ex-employer whom I'm close with as well. She just had a new baby a few weeks back.
I don't really see it as odd. They both thanked me kindly for it. To me it's just like saying " Merry Xmas".
