This is my question here. And what the heck was your kid doing that broke the window function? Seems like you have some far bigger issues here than reimbursing your nanny, OP.

Why does a teen aver need a nanny? And, yes, you pay in full.

It is not your car. You are in no position to dictate what the actual owner of the car should or shouldn't fix. Of course you should pay for damage inflicted on her property by your child!

Why is this even a question?

This. This is why we have a nanny car. If my kid breaks or damages something, I get to decide how much effort to put into getting it repaired cheaply or decide not to repair it at all. If he/she damages someone else's car, all I get to do is ask for a receipt and write a check.

On the other hand $1600 is still less than the cost of an extra car.

If your child broke it, then as her parent you are obligated to pay for the damage.

The price seems a bit high however.

I would ask the nanny if she can show you the estimate/bill plus any receipts to show she paid out of pocket vs. her insurance.

Teach your teenager to respect others property. Why shouldn't the nanny have fixed it, should she ride with the window up
At all times? I highly doubt you wouldn't have fixed your own car. Let nanny drive your car in the future

You reimburse and then your teenager pays you back. Time to get a job.

You should reimburse all of the costs OP.

Why wouldn't you pay it? That's the better question.

+1 I don't understand your post, OP. Do you think the nanny should pay for something your kid broke?

If your child broke it why would you even think you didn't have to pay to repair it?

You should reimburse her for all of the cost of the repair. Your child broke it - you are responsible to repair it.

My teenager damaged the window on my nanny's car. Supposedly it still worked but the auto up didn't. The nanny replaced it and the repair was over $1600. If it were my car then i probably wouldn't have done it. Should i reimburse her - all, part?
