I am a part-time nanny to two families on separate days, adding up to regular full-time hours. I like both the families and love the children but have a few problems lately. I have been with NF1 for 1.5 years and work 4 days per week. I have been with NF2 for 9 months and work 1 day a week. Lately I find myself enjoying working with NF2 much more than NF1 despite having been with them longer (please note this is not a comparison of working with the children). I can't put my finger on why. Both jobs are relatively similar, require similar hours, and I receive the same pay. I have had some issues with NF1 that never came up with NF2 - pet care, care while baby is sick, scheduling changes and problems - but all in all nothing drastic or terrible.
I now find myself at a crossroads, which brings me to the second part of my post: I have decided to move away from where I live now in the fall. NF2 is also moving and I will be leaving them in the next two weeks, so that's taken care of. I have two issues...I thought that I would wait until June or July to put in notice with NF1 as I don't want to risk a bad reaction but I also don't want to leave them in a lurch. This would give NF1 at least 8 weeks to find a replacement. However, I am realizing how unhappy I have been in this job lately and am wondering if I should leave earlier and enjoy my last few months where I live now, or just stick it out. Am I just in a nanny rut? Is it this family? How long would you wait to tell NF1 you were moving if you were me? Thanks!
