I am assuming you paid the costs of the supplies she needed so you should offer up something for her labor, unless she feels it is simply a labor of love.

You should not have alloallowed this because you don't buy your meat and potatoes at the same store ever. You pay her what You would pay a professional event planner or pay her double time.

Pay her what it's worth to you. She's going above and beyond for you. You need to show your appreciation in that envelope, and she'll be happy to help you again next time.

Ask her, of course. My feeling is that I'd like to be either paid per hour if the work is mostly in your home and 'present' or a flat rate if it's something she will be doing at home in front of the television.

My nanny is very creative and has offered to assist with making centerpieces and displays for an upcoming party. I have paid her the regular rate for her normal hours but will require additional help the weekend of with set up. She is also constructing items in her off hours. Not sure how to handle payment. Do I pay her the regular rate based on hours she working or should I do a lump sum afterwards?
