Not OP but I don't think the limiting use of the cell phone to work related issues is unreasonable at all. But I would allow cell phone use when the baby is sleeping. Working a 45 hour M-F week, the nanny needs to make various appointments, check on car repair status, etc. during the week.

We will be paying our nanny legally -- all taxes, withholdings and overtime. She will be working 45 hours a week and we are starting at $22 an hour with benefits (healthcare, one week vacation and one week of sick/personal time, federal holidays paid and all hours guaranteed with no changes). I also work very close to home with a set shift schedule and doubt I will ever be late.

I agree with PP - be upfront about everything that you require/expect. I know I should have made specific, in writing, exact rules about our nanny's cell phone use and I didn't. It has been an issue with us.

What fooling are you talking about?
That they are MBs. This is a forum for people who have hired or are in the process of hiring a nanny - not for unhappy nannies to grind their axes. That "fooling".

Please do not let some of the nannies posting on this parents forum fool you.
The best thing that you can do is make all of your requirements known clearly from the start. If you are not getting the responses that you want then you may have to adjust.

Yes and yes.
Although we didn't ask for either, our nanny brings her own lunch and only carries a flip-phone that DH and I have the number to (although when she occasionally sits for us at night, she does bring her personal smart phone and uses it when DC is asleep).
