As long as she has someone to cover for you, I am sure it is okay.

A plus if she has a dog herself or loves animals. Then she will understand more why you need to do this.

It isn't an emergency but it does need to be dealt with. Where in there do you get the idea that she knew at the time of the interview?

OP I wouldn't be upset. You've given time to make a back up plan.. it's fine.

It's fine. Giving that much notice is a big deal and a sign that you are respectful to your MB's time too. She was able to get coverage. It's a non-issue.

also, always check if they are going on vacation or whatever/have a down day while you are scheduling.

This is something that has just become an issue. I had no idea when I interviewed 4 months ago that my dog would develop an infection, requiring surgery.

So glad I don't work for you. Op didn't say she was asking to be paid. She wants to be with her pet which are like family members to most people. She shouldn't have to find a new vet that is open on Saturday plus most won't do procedures unless emergency ones on a Saturday incase there are any complications

I'd be pissed, and it would go against your contract with me, because the first three months are probation and you don't earn any vacation time during that period.

MB here and I'd be totally fine w/ this. I'd appreciate the advance notice, and would want you to get your dog cared for.

Would MBs consider this to be a red flag? My dog needs to have a procedure done (not emergency, but not something that can wait too long either) and I gave 2 weeks notice for taking a day off. MB seemed okay with it and found someone to cover for me, but I wonder if I shouldn't be scheduling a day off within the first 3 months.

Thoughts from nannies and MBs?
