OP here. I talked to MB about it and she very happily agreed to sell it to me. I told her that I expect to pay the rate she asked and that I didn't want any special pricing. She insisted that I pay a reduced rate. DB even told me that he would load it up and bring it to my home for me. I have the best bosses in the world.

No...Not weird at all.

My hunch is that your bosses will probably give it to you for free or at the very least, offer you a reduced price for it.

I cannot imagine them asking you to pay full price for it unless it is really expensive.

I think that's fine OP. I imagine they might want to give you a deal anyway (I certainly would) but I can't imagine why it would be a problem.

Nanny for many years here. I have done that 2-3 times over the years. I don't think it's weird, with one caveat. When you ask, make sure to say you expect to pay what they want for it, not a discount because you are their nanny.

no. I have sold used furniture and appliances to babysitters, housekeepers, lawn guy, etc. It was never weird.

I didn't charge very much for it. The main thing I wanted was for it to go to a good home and not to have to move it myself.

My MB mentioned that they are selling their dining room set. I have been looking for a similar set and would love to potentially purchase them.
I expect to purchase them at the price they ask for and am not looking for them to give me a deal.
Would it be ok to ask if I could purchase the table or is that too strange a thing to ask?
