You may be able to find an English speaking college graduate willing to work for $15/ hour, but it is likely not going to be a long-term fit they will stay with you at that rate until they finish grad school or find a job in their field.

My advice is to write up a job description see what you want and a dollar estimate based on your budget then post the ad ad see what it gets you.
If you get the kin of candidates you want great start interviewing.
If you don't up your rate a little bit and try again.

If you want to have a nanny long term and possible more children you have to think about raises, and if you start at the highest end of your budget you'll top out more quickly.

Everyone asks this question and the answer is always the same: It All Depends On What You Want.

A college educated, experienced and legal nanny is going to cost more than $17 anywhere in this area. An American nanny with a degree in Early Childhood Education and experience teaching in preschool or daycare is going to cost more than an undocumented foreign nanny.

I am currently paying $20 an hour for one infant - a legal, college graduate with over ten years of experience (in Falls Church). My neighbor pays $18 an hour cash for an illegal nanny who has been with them for five years for two kids.

It all depends on what you want.

Generally, $15 to $25 an hour.

In my neighborhood in Bethesda the nannies start at $15-16/hr for one child and $17-19/hr for two children, and work 35-45 hours a week.
We have a great group if neighborhood friends and all had kids the same summer ao I'm spot rating on 5-6 families.
Also, call a few agents (whitehouse nannies) and feel them out. We did and it was the same ranges.

And how much the nanny you want to hire wants to be paid.
If you do a share it can be less than $15 to $10 an hour.
