People pay a lit of money for the vet to make a paw print out of clay or whatever when they put the dog down. It's a service many offer at the time of death. I'sd hardly call that crap.

I have to agree that an adult's "artwork" with the dead dog's paw prints would creep me out, too.

When my nf put down their dog, I had a picture of the baby hugging the dog put in an ornament forchristmas. I did the same thing my aunts cat. They all cried hard. As a owner of many pets, I would appreciate a gift like that. Many people love their pets like children.

The paw print idea is a lovely one. I would have loved this.
We celebrate Christmas so a friend of ours made an ornament with the dog's picture inside. She loved Christmas.
Just be as supportive and loving as you can.

Just mourn with them OP.
I always make a donation to the humane society when anyone's pet dies. Maybe that.
If the kids are young you could ask the parents how they'd like you to handle talking with the kids about it.

Hi guys,
My nanny family is putting down their beloved 19 year old dog tomorrow. I've been employed by the family for 5 years so it's a bit of an emotional day for me too. I'm wondering if there's anything that I can do to let them know I'm thinking of them. I'm considering making something for them with the dogs paws prints, any ideas?
