A paid afternoon off would be my choice. I feel guilty taking time off (both because I worry that I might later need the money and because I don't want to leave NF in the lurch), so being told, "You still get paid, but go home a few hours early and take a nap/catch a movie/relax." Would be SO nice, especially after I'd been working long hours as your nanny has.

Trust me OP, the best way to thank your nanny for being worth her weight in gold is to pay her in cash.

Nannies love nothing more in this world than cold hard ca$h.

I have an MB who always wants to do something thoughtful and I appreciate the gesture, I really do. But I would much rather have cash or gift card. Nannies don't make much and it's so nice to have money that I didn't budget for and can splurge with.

Does she have a kindle/tablet? Amazon gift card? Coffee basket with a nice mug + coffee + biscotti? Restaurant gift card? Wine gift basket with a couple of bottles and some snacks?

Our nanny has gone above and beyond the past few weeks (coming in night before when there was bad weather, helping pack and reorganize house when snowed in our house, and working twice as many hours as scheduled). What's a good way to say thank you? I tend to give cash but want to be a bit more thoughtful. I got her a small gift to show my appreciation but that's not enough for how much she has helped. Any ideas?
