I actually have a nanny job with a Christian family ( mainly because that was what I was looking for )
It would have been hard on me if I went with a family to only realize later on that they did not want me praying over my meals or praying over a hurt sick or sad child or talking about the bible ( bedtime stories )
It works out better for everyone that I am upfront about my beliefs because it plays a big part in my day to day life.
One of the pp nanny posters. I am a Christian nanny never would I ever pray or talk about the Bible with my charges unless I was asked to do this. I just don't think is appropriate or even right to do as a Christian.
I don't actively seek to work for Christian families either when I have worked with Christian. families it is different we can connect on a different level, but I don't feel my role as a Christian is to surround myself with only other Christians or to "preach at" people .
I live my life one way and alot of that has to do with my faith and if people ask I have no problem telling, but I don't take that choice away from them.

Did you marry someone with your same beliefs?
I am not married to my nanny or any other employee. I would not ask my child's teacher what her religious beliefs are but would work to get her fired if she/he EVER mentioned them to my child - even if they were the same as my own beliefs.

Your brleifs are a personal issue. You can live them out each day without sharing them with others. I would not ask you what your brleifs are upon hiring. I would not be happy with the nanny teaching my child about religion.

I am Christian and have worked with Jewish families but none of my other jobs have mentioned religion and I don't talk about mine. I pray with my child but not with my charges. I'd find it weird considering I really don't get a religious vibe from the parents.

+1 I would not hire a nanny who even mentioned what religion they were or asked what our religion was.

MB here. We have zero issues with anyone's faith, but we don't wish it discussed in our home/with our kids etc... We are fully respectful of holidays, attire, food choices, etc... but anyone who works in our house needs to feel comfortable working in an environment predominantly devoid of religious expression. They would need to feel comfortable preparing/handling meat, not discussing their beliefs, etc...
I do think it's an important thing to consider that a lot of first time parents don't think about. If faith is a central part of someone's life (family or nanny) then it's important that those beliefs be respected, and - perhaps - shared, depending on the wishes of the individuals involved.

Agree with this it is like family it's a deeper connection than other jobs. I feel the same way when I get to work for a family that speaks my first language.
I think as long as you are not discriminating against other families it is okay.
I mean nannies seek out families with the same political affiliation etc all the time why not the same religion? i could see the parents liking that they could have someone of their faith to also instruct their children in their faith another religious role model.

I say go for it. I am Muslim. In the past I have mostly worked for Muslim families. Which was great because of our holidays off. I didn't have to explain that I needed a holiday off and didn't know in advance when it would be (it's determined by the sighting of the moon), and they knew I needed to take it easy in the summer during Ramadan.
I say all that to say it's nice. It felt more like being around family. I am of a different ethnicity but we had a religious bond.

TBH I have thought about seeking out a Christian family for my next job. I am not really practicing anymore outside of the major holidays, but some of my best childhood memories are going to Sunday church and singing the songs.

I do not seek out Christian families,as I do not share my beliefs outright on the job.
I suppose I would have a hard time working for a family that had an outright disdain for religion.
I have seen job listings from Christian families seeking a Christian nanny that shares their beliefs and they can help instruct the children in them.

I am a Christian Nanny. In being so I would prefer to work with a family who's beliefs line up with mine.
Or at least has no issues with me talking about or living out my faith everyday.
