She said that because she is obviously a nice person. I say things like that too but I would still expect you to pay me. It is okay to make mistakes and she acknowledged that by telling you it was okay. Now pay her or you will be back very soon moaning about lazy babysitters quitting on you.

Did you get snow? She's probably annoyed she got up early to clean her car off, travel in snow, etc and then you cancel

This has happened to me before I was paid in full and MB apologized. I still work for them. They have been great overall so I didn't hold it against them , mistakes happen.

I did this on Saturday and felt horrible (glad I'm not the only one). I got things done around the house and ran some errands.

MB here and of course you should have paid her the full amount. I would call her immediately and apologize for giving her only half what was due her.

OP here- this was briefly on general parenting on the other forum. Everyone quickly chimed in that I should have paid her in full. I will definitely do that. I had just woken up and wasn't thinking quickly or clearly. I feel badly that I made
her come out for no good reason and will compensate her. I appreciate this forum for guidance like this!

You should have paid her for the full time!!!! She turned down other jobs for today FOR YOU and actually schlepped over to your house only to be handed half her pay? I would be pissed, too.

I also would never work for you again.

You should have paid her in full. It was your error, and she could have lined up another opportunity. And had to clear her car and brave the roads. I'd call her back, apologize, and tell her you'll pay her in full for your mistake.

And I feel terrible about it. My husband doesn't have work so he let me sleep and I just totally forgot to call her to cancel. She showed up and we apologized profusely. I also gave her half of what I would normally pay her for the day. She still seemed pretty peeved. I understand her annoyance, it was an honest mistake though. Besides remembering to call, is there anything I could have done better or differently?
