Whats the difference? Being a nanny is like being a SAHM but at least you aren't a mooch on your husband.

The difference is that it's your kids, house and you make all the decisions. You're not a mooch because a marriage is a team effort. All the money we save on childcare, cleaning services etc would equal any income I'd bring in from working plus I get to spend quality time with my children and get stuff down around my house. Being a sahm is benefit to any husband as he never has to worry about home life because everything is taken care of.

I was with you to the end. Marriage and real life is not a 1950's sitcom.

To be a midwife!

But my dream nanny job would be infants/toddlers with a easy going family who would be open to me taking the children to museums, outdoor concerts, galleries, zoos, libraries and expose them to other awesome culture as they grow!

Also a family that takes me when they travel would be fun.

Newborns! I'd be a very happy nanny if I could just take care of newborns and infants. The first year of life is probably my favorite.

My dream job is one where I have complete autonomy during the day. I am free to plan out what we get to do during the day and am free to use my vehicle or one provided by the parents (preferred) and use it to do whatever I want to. I know my area very well since I am a native and I think it would be so fun to plan fun kid ideas on my time off. We would visit the zoo, marine park, museums (railroad/dinosaur/children's/etc.), aquarium, parks, playgrounds, indoor malls w/carousels & running trains and Chuck E. Cheese.

I also could take my charge to music classes and library story hours and maybe even some toddler yoga and art classes.

I am a nanny who likes to do, do do!! And be out of the house and socialize with others, adults and kids!

In my current job, I am not allowed to do much. We get to walk places, but I am not allowed to drive anywhere so it is very limited what we get to do. So far our only options are the library, park and a sandwich shop.

The child is only 2 years old, but he is already getting bored and telling me he wants to go to "other places" with me!

I agree.

Infant twins or triplets with a busy family who need at least 55 hrs a week and travel often. I love to immerse myself in my job, I love multiples and I love to travel, esp. With kids.

This is so nice to hear, PP.

Very nice. The first thing she mentioned was her charge (and not her salary). Second thing she wrote was about her charge. Very classy indeed.

I'm working at a daycare at the moment (2,5-3,5 yo room) and I am itching to get back to nannying. I'd love to go back to nannying and have a toddler or two to look after. Now that I know so much more about different things to do with them, I feel like I'd have such a blast and will be able to give them a lot.

For me, at the moment I would love a weekend gig caring for infant multiples.

You should find your local Moms/Parents of Multiples group. You'll be employed in a heartbeat! I would have loved reliable weekend help when my twins were young.
