I don't think these sites care about your security.

Please change your email password immediately. This is why care and sitter city say not to email personal email addresses until you are sure they are real. Also contact sitter city and let them know

This is most definitely a scam.

What they most likely will do next is offer you the position (which would be really weird since they haven't even met you in person!!), then offer you a ridiculously inflated salary and mail you your first paycheck before you even begin working for them.

He will ask you to please cash it for him since he is out of the U.S. temporarily and does not have access to his bank account (bogus), and to please deposit the monies into your banking account. Next he will ask you if you could please forward him part of the amount to an out of country address and that he will reimburse you when he comes to the country.

If you do what he says, you will be majorly screwed by him. How so? Because the bank will find out the check is a fake, they will demand their money back from you and by then you will already have collected it and sent part of it to him. So you will be on the hook to the bank for what you sent him plus any add'l fees the bank may incur.

In the meantime, Mr. Scam is nowhere to be found and is off scamming the next person.

Report this common scam to sittercity.com right away and they will remove him from the site ASAP.

Sittercity has been overrun with scammers lately, and unfortunately they are harder to report than they used to be.

Have you tried googling the email addresses? I guarantee this is a scam, but you can try googling the email addresses if you want to confirm.

I have only been using sittercity for 2 weeks. I have gotten 4 great babysitting jobs from it.

I got a really wierd Message on sittercity. The person said they were I Teresa ed in me nannying their 4 y/o daughter. Theu asked me to email them my resume. I didn't email my resume but I did email them asking where they were located and what hours they needed someone. They replied with this:

We appreciate your response. We have been making arrangement in place before getting back to you and I am glad to tell you we are indeed getting in touch with you with a positive response. Myself and my wife and our beautiful charming damsel are on vacation and will be relocating to a suitable place close to where we find a Nanny or babysitter with our daughter. We plan on changing our life, location and everything in preparation for new Baby on the way ! We are into crude Oil consultancy and we can handle our job from anywhere. We are not the richest but very comfortable, we thank God. We decide to make a change of life style and always be new in our love and family everyday as we think love rules over the world when it is sincere and pure.
We will be offering ($35/hr or to your schedule and agreement we both reach) for 5hrs a day week or less or more depending on our arrangement too. We will be needing your services for five hours from 10am -3pm or 4pm-9pm for three days in a week, probably ( friday to sunday) OR (monday, wednesday and fridays). Please advice otherwise to re-arrange.
We would be needing the service of a caring person with positive personality to take good care of Kristy for six months or more on a full time or part-time basis or which ever we will agreed upon.I will need someone who Could be taking care of my daughter while I am off to work because we are expecting our second child soon and it will be very stressful for my wife to do this by herself alone. Please get back to us if you fit in perfectly to this position to discuss further.
