I would bring in a doctor's note but still look for a new job. Any family that doesn't believe you're IN THE HOSPITAL and then can't understand someone being 10 minutes late with the type of snow you guys had is a bad family to work for. Find a new job and, when you do, tell the new family you can't work for people who treat you like that.

I agree with bringing in a doctors note or your hospital discharge instructions. It's pretty heartless to fire someone over being hospitalized.

That was a mistake. It takes me 15-20 to get to work but with the snow it took 1.5 hours. Yesterday it took a little under but I made it there early.

I'm from MA and because of the snow that has caused traffic I have been late almost half the week for the past few weeks. People from DC didn't get the amount of snow that we did so they don't understand. It was all over the news today how Boston is gridlocked because there is just too much snow. With that said, you should ask them if they would like a doctors note from the time you were sick. You should always get a doctors note when you are ill for a few days. I would then ask for a sit down meeting and explain the situation directly with them. Tell them you didn't intentionally try to miss work or be late and you really enjoy the job, that circumstances out of your control have caused you make a poor first impression. Tell them you understand if they would rather start fresh with someone new and will leave if that's what they want but that you are committed to the job otherwise and would like to stay.

I'd also refresh your resume and start looking just incase.

Yep. Me too.

Of course they feel taken advantage of. Being in the hospital is one thing, being late is your own fault and compounds the problem.

Take them some kind of proof of your hospital stay like a bill or discharge papers. Tell them again you are sorry and you are dedicated. Then SHOW IT by not being late ot absent.

I actually happen to be a different poster. My employer said something along those terms but she frequents this site so I chose to use what other nannies use that were similiar to what my employer said. Very different poster.

This is clearly the same poster who asked about how to quit a job a few days ago.... posting a different version, but the same basic question, same writing style and word misuses/misspellings.

For heavens op, DROP IT. one thread on this exact topic is enough. You didn't even try to change the story or the quotes or anything. You got several pages of responses on your other, still active, thread. Now go get a hobby.

You can't even make it to your 6 week anniversary without being late and missing 4 DAYS of work! IN 6 WEEKS! But I am sure you are just wonderful. Your MB is a jerk. Quit with no notice.

I've been with my NF for 1.5 months. Unfortunately I have my had the best luck health wise and I was in the hospital for 4 days part of the second and third week. I know it looks bad but MB and DB were understandable. They told me how amazing I am with their twins and that they love the work I do. I profusely apologized for missing days and MB said " we know you would be here if you could". Well today I was late to work by 10 minutes because of the rather ( we are in Massachusetts) and MB said " We feel taken advantage of. We need to know you are committed. For whateve reason you are not, let us know." I assure them I was but she proceeded to say the same thing 3 times. Then what she said shocked me a bit. She said " We are worried that its us or something else for you missing the days for work." I told her " I am 100% committed and the days I missed I was in the hospital. I would have let you know early on if I felt this wasn't a good fit." She then said " Yeah...you did say you were sick".

She never right out said it but I can't help but feel they are now believing I wasn't sick. This is upsetting because I don't want to be perceived as such. I have a stellar nanny reputation and it makes me worry they don't trust me. My question is if I should get some clarity on if whether they believe I was sick or just quit after I find another job?
