Oh good lord, you are special. You go ahead and jump on Care.com and start looking for the 3rd or 4th nanny your children have had in the past year. I've never had a gynocologist who offered regular appointments on Saturday or Sunday. Get over yourself, nannies are human too.

It is expected that sick days will be used for doctor appointments, mental health days, and actually being physically ill.

Your health must be a priority, trust me you don't want to put it on the back burner and regret it.

This is a responsible way to handle it. I didn't take the whole day off anytime I had a dentist, preggo, or doctor appointment.

Unfortunately brig a full time care provider makes it difficult to take personal days off to just go around doing personal stuff on a weekday. If you are falling behind there wait until you can find a sub or your family has grandparents visiting or someone that might not mind if you requested a day off.

Finally, sick days are for being sick. If you have a medical issue work out an ok date and time to take off. Your family will then have to ask their own boss for the monring or afternoon off as well. Unlikely they will say it's because their nanny scheduled her appointments...

OP here. I definitely will not be replaced. My employers love me. Plus in the last sixish months I have came late or stayed early around 60 times. Some for work but most so they can see a play, go to a wine tasting, date nights, etc. I also go out of my way to help keep the home tidy, take out the, trash, run errands for them, and just make their life easier. They appreciate me.

I had a dental issue and my boss just met me at naptime. I took a half sick day. Sick time is provided for a reason to all employees that receive it, you shouldn't have to feel like you'll be replaced just for asking for a few hours.

I have worked with this NF since July. I have 5 sick days in my contract per year, which I have yet to use. I have never been late or called in sick. I am flexible with my duties and I always stay late when needed. I really need to go to the doctors ( gyno issue) but my gyno is private practice and her office isn't open on Saturdays. Do you think it would be okay to ask if I can use a sick day as a personal one for this appointment? I would be able to ask tomorrow for an appointment 3 weeks from now. Is that okay to ask or not?
