If it's anything more significant (gastrointestinal mess, significant pain, injury, spiking fevers, etc...) then I'd be touched that you checked in. And if it's serious I'd play to update you so that you knew whether you were coming back to an ongoing situation, a significantly improved child, or shouldn't come in for another day or two. I expect and hope that you will care enough about my kid(s) to wonder if they're ok for heaven's sake!

I guess this is definitely the kind of thing that varies from individual to individual but unless you're someone who is constantly in touch w/ your employers about inconsequential things I can imagine a parent being bothered.

I guess I just don't understand why a parent would be bothered. If your children are sick you want to know when they are better, right? How they are feeling? It is the same with nannies. Not strange at all..

This has got to be a troll thread.

W-O-W, your poor nanny.

Right?? That's kind of a psycho MB. My MB and I text each other all the time to see how the other is doing!

Heart-warming. Remind me not to give a shit about you or your kids unless I'm looking at them.

+1 This MB wants you to care about her children only on her schedule.

I text or email both sets of employers all the time. We send random crap to each other. They would be insulted if I didn't check in when the children are sick, but they usually beat me to it by sending updates first.

It depends on the relationship you have with them.

MB here and I would always appreciate a text or phone call to ask how my child is doing.

I think one text just to see how the baby is doing is probably ok. I wouldn't send multiple texts.

I usually call or text. I've never had any parents complain.

Your friend is clueless...no offense.

Or she has had some pretty bad bosses.

I have worked for many families and have had zero issues texting them outside working hours nor have they.

Well, if she is upset, she's an idiot. I would think it very nice that you are so considerate.

I am nanny that works with infants. My current charge is sick and I had the day off. I texted MB quickly to see how my charge was. My one friend ( also a nanny) said never to text an MB outside of work, because she will see it as bothering her. What do MBs think if nanny did this? I only do this if I was out that day and charge is very sick.
