Yikes OP - I totally agree with everyone else that this is NOT something to be concerned with. You could have a nanny that is chronically late - that is a serious problem. You could have a nanny who loses track of time and that's a problem.

Instead you have someone very conscientious and reliable and you're looking for a negative?

Yikes. You really need to curb that instinct or you will make a fabulous nanny miserable in the job.

I tend to be an early person but when I am going places with my charges I ALWAYS leave extra early ... transporting a kid or multiple kids takes more time than traveling alone and so many things can go wrong that will take extra time (tantrums, diapers, spit up, etc). you need to relax, lady. would you rather her early or late?

I grew up with a mom who was ALWAYS late. It drove me nuts. So I am super early to everything. About 20 to 30 mins early is where I prefer to be. BUT if someone says come over at 10, I will arrive at 940 but I wont go knock until 10 because I think it is rude to show up to someones house early.

I go to my charges school a half hour early because the parking is HORRIBLE. However I don't clock in until the time he gets out of school since it is my decision to be early. I don't expect my employers to pay for my quirky early habits.

I highly doubt it is to get more breaks or phone time. She just likes to be on time!!

I'm early for everything! It stresses me out to be late. Traffic in this area is pretty bad. I always add extra time to drive to the location in case there's a traffic issue.

Op-let this go. This is one thing I wouldn't worry over.

What is the potential downside of her leaving early? Trying to imagine a scenario--like she is picking kids up from school and you'd rather she be folding laundry or something until the last possible minute?

Think the best of people. She probably is simply anxious about getting there on time. She sounds very responsible.

I am always early and typically give myself at least 30 minutes to get somewhere even if it's down the street. You never know when a train will delay you, wreck up in front, detour. I've never been late ever in my life. If my boss told me to stop leaving early I couldn't handle it. I would have a mild panic attack because I believe being 5 minutes early is on time and being on time is late. And late in my world is unexceptable.

Let this go please. It really isn't important. And in the future, try not to assume the worst in everything your nanny does.

I think that you should. Be happy that she is responsible enough to be early.
