No, I think for a newborn you must pay about $20 an hour to get someone with knowledge and experience. A teenager is fine for older children who will be asleep most of the time.

This is the most prudent advice so far.


No one here mentioned newborns - not the OP or anyone since.

I also happen to disagree with you - I have twins and I assure you they were FAR easier to babysit when they were infants than they are as toddlers, preschoolers, etc... So I have paid MORE for babysitting during those stages, and especially during any potty training time, than I did when they were infants.

Of course, as newborns they didn't have babysitters other than family or their nanny (who doesn't make $20/hr) so your point is still irrelevant.

But why you're looking for a fight remains the eternal mystery of DCUM.

I agreed with another poster. It's your problem if you think that's "looking for a fight." Grow up a little.

Thank you! She will be babysitting just to see DC, but I want to make sure she does not think we are using her. $15-20 sounds right.
